Joe Sacco (natural 1960) is a Maltese comics artist and journalist.
Natural around Malta, Sacco moved to the United States and studied journalism at a University of Oregon, graduating in 1981. He briefly returned to Malta, in which he began working as an creative persin on romance comics. Inside 1985, when sleep in Portland, Oregon, he co-edited a every month comedian newspaper, Portland Permanent Click; he was so hired at Fantagraphics Books, where he edited a short-ephemeral comedian anthology Centrifugal Bumble-Puppy.
Sacco's number 1 solo series, Yahoo, published from either 1988 to 1992, was one of numerous autobiographical titles appearing in microscopic-click comedian at a period, however Sacco's wide range of interests & journalistic inherent aptitude were untypical; Yahoo somewhat resembled a free streaming-form ruminations of David Collier and Harvey Pekar, but by using the other satiric tone & the less local focus. Sacco next travelled to Sarajevo and Goražde near the prevent of the Bosnian War, and produced the series of reports in the equivalent style when Palestine: a graphic novels Safe Area Goražde & A Fixer, & a stories collected within ''War's Prevent. Safe Metropolitan area Goražde'' won a Eisner Award for Best Original Graphic Novel inside 2001.
He has as well contributed short pieces of graphic reporting to the kind of magazines, in cases ranging from either war crimes to blues, and occurs as frequent illustrator of Harvey Pekar's American Splendor. Sacco presently sleep in New York City.
